Raymarine C70
The smallest of Raymarine’s C Series multifunction displays introduced in 2004, the Raymarine C70 Chartplotter packs all the features of its larger syblings the C80 & C120 into a compact and relatively economical box. It is much easier to use than the array of controls and the thickness of the manual suggest.
Highlights – The C70 is the perfect choice for installations where visibility is critical but space is an issue. It has a 6.5″ Sunlight Viewable Color Display with excellent contrast and a wide viewing angle. A high resolution 640 x 480 pixel transflective LCD panel with 256 colors makes for a crisp, clear picture that’s visible under even the most challenging lighting conditions.
The perfect choice for mounting at the helm or on a center console, Raymarine’s C70 puts the power of Multifunction Navigation into a single compact display. With the optional modules and antenna, the C70 can display Color – Radar, Chartplotter, Fishfinder, Siruis Weather, AIS Tracking and Engine/Instrument Data. With inputs for the GPS sensor, Radar, HD Digital sounder module, SIRIUS Satellite Radio and SIRIUS SR50 Marine Weather module, the C70 Multifunction Navigation Display is easily transformed into a full function navigation system.Radar compatibility includes, Pathfinder S-series, 2D/4D series and the newer RD218 and RD424 series of Raymarine radar scanners, from 2-10KW, Radome or Open Array style. The C70 uses the Raymarine RS125 or RS70 GPS receiver/antenna and the AIS Tracking uses the Raymarine AIS250. Software versions 3.18 or higher required for AIS. The C70 uses Navionics Gold – “CF” Compact Flash cartography.

The C Series software is very intuitive for complex chartplotter. It makes good use of its 5 soft keys and numerous dedicated pushbuttons. Getting it started up with the basics and using it right out of the box should be a breeze without much need for the manual. Waypoint entry allows for a 16-character name, and a 32-character comment for each waypoint. This should make obscure waypoints in a large list much easier to identify and use, however the of the lack of an alphanumeric keypad will make adding groups of waypoints a bit cumbersome.
The Instrument displays can be customized with multiple combinations of graphical, digital, and analog displays. You can even keep track of engine performance with virtual engine instruments. Using NMEA 2000 or J1939 protocol, the C70 can network with electronic engine instrument systems.
The Raymarine C70 Classic puts the power of Multifunction Navigation into a single display. Though they are not being produced any longer, new & used C70 units are still readily available.
